Preparations for the maiden anniversary lecture of Penpushing are now in top gear as the epoch-making programme is set to hold at Marque Event Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mrs Olufunke Fadugba, made this known to journalists on Monday after the committee’s meeting held at Daktard Hotel, Quarry Road, in Abeokuta.
Fadugba, a former Chairperson of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Council, said that the topic of the lecture would be ‘Social Media: Building Parameter for Trust to Achieve Political and National Growth’.
She added that the guest lecturer, Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe, had agreed to give the topic a professional cum academic touch.
She disclosed further, that former Governor Olusegun Osoba would lead other ex -governors to the occasion as Penpushing fathers’ of the day, while the traditional ruler of Akinale in Owu Kingdom of Egbaland, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, is the royal father of the day.
The committee Chairman, who said that the anniversary was scheduled for Wednesday, July 19, however, called for support and active participation of all members of the platform towards the success.
She added that members support in cash and kind would go a long way.
Fadugba, further said that a journalism icon, Prof Idowu Sobowale, would Chair the occasion, adding that various professional bodies including human rights activists among others had been invited.
Newsmakersng learnt that selected secondary and tertiary institutions have been contacted to allow participation of their students, to further garner knowledge from the lecture.
The committee boss also disclosed that, selected bloggers would attend the ceremony, as an avenue for them to tap from the fountain of knowledge of the former Vice-Chancellor of University of Lagos (Unilag), who is the guest lecturer.
